Globe trotting troubadour Carus Thompson has done it the hard way. Independent, with no commercial radio play, self-managed and funded he’s toured the world alongside The John Butler Trio, The Waifs, Xavier Rudd, Jack Johnson & Pete Murray, selling over 30,000 albums along the way.
He’s won his loyal fan base through 20 years of hitting the road, one punter, one gig, one tour at a time, always delivering passionate, energetic, folk-rocking shows that entertain and engage.
It’s fitting that in support of his new single and video clip “Starved Myself Pretty” - a sharp, succinct and emotive comment on shows like X factor – he’s heading out around the country in solo mode. No tricks, no backing, just one man, a guitar and his songs. The anti-thesis of the commercial, mainstream, corporate and exploitive approach that the reality music shows take.
This is the third and final tour for his lauded ISLAND album, before he takes a break to start writing for album number seven. Don’t miss one of this countries finest pub-rock acoustic singer-songwriters.

This is music that seeks to convey a strong sense of gratitude, love and positivity drawn from the sensations of this land and it’s people, seamlessly blending between composed and improvised passages, all while maintaining a strong emphasis on rawness, honesty and natural beauty.

BRISBANE CONDUCTION ORCHESTRA (Debut Performance)
The Brisbane Conduction Orchestra seeks to explore the methods of Anthony Braxton and Lawrence 'Butch' Morris in relation to the art of Conduction.
Conduction can be defined as:
"The practice of conveying and interpreting a lexicon of directives to modify or construct sonic arrangement or composition; a structure-content exchange between composer/ conductor /instrumentalist that provides immediate possibilities to alter or initiate harmony, melody, rhythm, tempo, progression, articulation, phrasing or form by manipulating pitch, dynamics, timbre, duration and order in real-time."
Formed in September of 2017 under the direction of Benjamin Shannon (kodiak empire/Milton Man Gogh), the Orchestra features a rotating roster of musicians from throughout Brisbane's jazz, experimental and improvised music scenes.
This event will feature one set of music from each group as well as interstitial music from GCR DJ's.... See MoreSee Less

Melbourne-based indie-rock group Halcyon Drive have just unveiled tour dates and their latest single 'Silver Ray' - a compelling track lifted from their forthcoming debut album (due 2018).
Recorded and produced by Joel Quartermain (Meg Mac, Dustin Tebbutt, ELKI), 'Silver Ray' is a stunning and sophisticated slice of intricate indie-pop. Shining exuberantly with its spirited melodies, the track takes cues from the likes of Everything Everything, Glass Animals and The Strokes.
To celebrate the release, Halcyon Drive will launch 'Silver Ray' at The Workers Club, Melbourne and The Hills Are Alive festival held in regional Victorian town, Wonthaggi. From there, the trio will continue performances with headlining shows in Wollongong, Byron Bay and in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney as part of the Rare Finds indie club night tour circuit.
In the coming weeks Halcyon Drive will reveal an accompanying music video for 'Silver Ray', which will feature the members in a visually intriguing production.
Previous singles and EPs have been supported by the likes of triple j, Spotify, Rolling Stone Australia, Indie Shuffle (USA), The Wild Honey Pie (USA), Pilerats, ABC's Rage, MTV and community radio stations 3RRR, RTR FM, FBi, Edge Radio and 4ZZZ.
The band have traversed the country multiple times, sharing stages with the likes of MEW and performed at renowned festivals NYE on the Hill, BIGSOUND and Caloundra Music Festival. Oh Mercy hit the road throughout April to celebrate the release of their highly anticipated 5th studio album ‘Café Oblivion’, released through EMI on March 9.
Alex Gow, the Melbournian man behind the ARIA Award winning Oh Mercy has established the name as an iconic Australian act. ‘Café Oblivion’ affirms the whispers, Gow is certainly one of the country’s most accomplished, interesting and interested songwriters. A student of The Triffids, Paul Kelly and The Go-Betweens, album by album, Gow has managed to forge his own musical legacy.
Whereas 2015’s ARIA Award-winning ‘When We Talk About Love’ spoke of love, loss and longing, ‘Café Oblivion’ revels in the psychedelic imagery or lovers, villains, Gods, Australian sporting personalities and marsupials alike. It features songs set in Everest, in Sri Lanka, Abbotsford cafes, Nashville bars, post-apocalyptic landscapes and a 1980s Italian TV set. It is above all things playful.
Café Oblivion unfurls to reveal a wondrous and charming landscape. One unlike Oh Mercy has produced before. So, grab a table by the window where pathos and ecstasy share a schooner under the 67th of 350 signed prints of Steve Smith. As the world gets crazier, Gow just keeps getting better.... The boys are back with their first EP and are ready to share it with the world. Come down to Black Bear Lodge on the 26th of April for the launch of their debut EP 'Temptation' with support from Video Avenue and Big Whoops!
White Light Station are a developing riff-influenced funk/rock band from South East Queensland. Whilst exercising the melodic elements of Nirvana, their debut EP – Temptation, will be exploring the cheekiness of Red Hot Chili Peppers, soul of The Beach Boys and energy of Rage Against the Machine. Music last century or this century isn’t necessarily better or worse, but all music has its strengths. Finding those strengths and mixing them together in an atomic live show and on record is the goal of these maniac musicians.
With flavours of Arctic Monkeys, The Wombats and a sprinkle of Aussie rock, Video Avenue are a 4 piece Indie Rock band fresh in the Brisbane scene teaming up with string sticks blessed by the twang gods and skin cylinders possessed by groove.
It didn't take long for Big Whoops to find their feet after coming together in the early months of 2017, with the release of their debut single altering the normality of the Punk-Rock sound by incoorperating fast paced rap-like vocals over a Motown drumbeat, the Power-Trio later went onto recording their official single release 'For Crying Out Loud', a song that displays the groups more sensitive side of composition. Their tracks; 'For Crying Out Loud' and 'Won't Go Down' shape the south-east Queensland trio displaying an erratic alternative to the Punk-Rock scene.

Singer/songwriter Hein Cooper's 2016 debut album "The Art of Escape" landed in the positive graces of the Australian music industry, with 3 singles on Triple J, including "Rusty" streaming over 8 million. This led to a highly successful international campaign, performing over 140 shows over 18 months throughout Australia, Europe, the US, Canada and the UK, both as a headliner and supporting the likes of artists including James Bay, Lukas Graham & Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros in Montreal (as well as performing many festivals worldwide).
Scoring significant rotation across a variety of radio stations throughout Australia via all three singles from 'The Art Of Escape' Hein has been Playlisted across 50 stations in UK, 60 in Germany; Heavy rotation on Virgin Radio in France and in the top 100 commercial radio chart, #7 top single of the year at commercial radio in Quebec as a result of performing 1500+ festivals and shows throughout the world including Latitude, Boardmasters & Falls festivals; European sold-out headline tour across Germany, France, UK, Netherlands, Belgium (09/2017)
Hein's new single, “Hear My Voice” is a song about falsehoods and self-constructed versions of ourselves. Co-Produced by Will Hicks (Ed Sheeran, James Hersey) and Hein himself in the UK, the result is fresh; the foundations of Hein’s folk/indie pop styles are still present, though the songwriter has begun exploring other genres such as R’n’b and electronic music, inspired by artists like Frank Ocean and Chet Faker.
Excited to bring this new music back home to Australia, Hein is readying “Hear My Voice” and a collection of new material for upcoming headline shows nationally in April and May. “I think a pop song can be incredibly poetic and still clear, and also be an exciting mix of genres. That’s what I’ve aimed for throughout some of my new music.”
“Hear My Voice” is set for release April 6th 2018 preceding a new album expected later this year.

Rocket Science are back with a lurching, crispy fried new single from their forthcoming 5th studio album. “Lipstick Red” c/w “Back For More”. Glimpsed through a fog of burnt coffee grounds, this is a distillation of observation and alienation, set in a charred landscape.
Rocket Science, Roman Tucker (vocals, organ, Theremin), Dave Gray (bass guitar, fuzz bass) Kit Warhurst (drums, vocals) and Paul Maybury (guitar), play trashy-psychedelic- garage-punk with new wave, no-wave art-punk enthusiasm. Formed in mid-1988 the band has released 4 full length albums and enjoyed numerous ep’s, singles and 12” releases both in Australia and overseas. Described as one of the greatest bands to see live in the world by Rolling Stone Magazine, Rocket Science has received accolades and excitement from all over the world.

Byron Bay based 'tropical ambassador', singer, ukulele strummer and drummer Bobby Alu is back with the single ‘Move’, his first release since 2015’s Bay Sessions EP.
Featuring snappy log drum rhythms inspired by a strong family lineage of Polynesian musicians, island-time ukulele and smooth harmonies dressed up in tight equatorial folk stylings, 'Move' is a musical directive.
Having dedicated his world-class percussion skills to touring internationally with Xavier Rudd over the past five years, it was time for Bobby Alu to chart its own dedicated course again. Back in the studio this year with long-time producer, collaborator and touring buddy Paulie Bromley (The Beautiful Girls, george), Alu will follow up the exploratory self-titled debut (triple j Roots ‘n All top 10 album of 2010), the clear stylistic intention of 2013’s Take It Slow, and the cruisey attitude of 2015’s Bay Sessions EP, with his third long-player later in 2018.
To support the release of ‘Move’, Alu and his band head out on a 20-date Australasian tour between Easter and May. As usual, he’ll be observing the ebb and flow of life and locking into his tried and always true grooves, though with the fire that comes from holding 20,000 strong festival crowds captive with your beats, as well as the care that can only come from serenading your nearest and dearest by a coastal camp fire, with an instrument handed down from your mother.... ‘Lulu' Album Tour 2018
When Eddie was a teenager, one of his friends gave him a CD with 4 harmony-infused demos Taras had made using the inbuilt microphone on his old computer. The two had never met but Eddie listened to the songs non-stop. At the same time, Taras coincidentally stumbled upon mp3's of Eddie’s first band and his unorthodox singing style intrigued him. Although they had a web of mutual friends, it would still be a year before they would finally meet at a party.
But before they wrote music together, they joined a cult. They had befriended the cult leader in the surf one day, and it was during one of their many trips to India they met Tom’s sister at an ashram. She told them that her brother was a drummer, so when they returned to Sydney and heard him play the piano and bass they realised they needed this multi-instrumentalist, and promised him that when they started a band he would be in it. A little while later (immediately after the dissolution of the cult) the final seeds of the band started coming together. Taras met Marcus at the beach, and due to Marcus' funny haircut and massive scar over his heart, he was hired before they even heard him play bass. Angus joined soon after, although no one really knows or cares the wheres or hows of his entry.
After recording a few demos in their friend’s Croydon Park shed, and a couple of practices in an artist shared-collective space, they formed The Lulu Raes. Having released a string of singles, including triple j favourite ‘Burnout’, the band released their 'All Our Parents Are Divorced' EP. Touring with Sticky Fingers, The Jungle Giants and Polish Club, as well as playing a bunch of festivals across Australia, the band have recently released their latest singles ‘Fake It’ and 'Fade Away’ — ‘Lulu', their debut album drops May 4th.
